Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, said on Thursday that security agents have identified an unnamed Senator of sponsoring the anti-government protests in Abuja.
He said while addressing the press shortly after an emergency FCT Security Council meeting he summoned to review security response on the first day of the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests.
While Wike had earlier in the day commended the protesters for being nonviolent, reports of violence emerged later in the evening when some elements took over the ever-busy Murtala Muhammed (Kubwa) Expressway, setting bonfires, erecting blockades and extorting motorists.
Violence was also reported in some other parts of the city.
