The Independent National Electoral Commission has said it is fully ready for the Anambra State Governorship Election coming up on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, gave the assurance during an inspection visit to the Commission’s office in Awka ahead of the stakeholders’ meeting on Monday.
“Our responsibility is to the people of this nation. We are fully prepared to deliver an election that is fair, credible, and reflective of the people’s will,” Prof. Amupitan said.
He warned against attempts by vested interests to discredit the process, saying the Commission would remain focused on its duty.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Anambra State, Dr. Elizabeth Agwu, said all non-sensitive materials had been sent to the 21 local government areas of the state.
She added that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System had been fully configured, tested, and ready for use.
“We have left nothing to chance. From the training of personnel to the deployment of materials, every necessary step has been taken to ensure a smooth and credible election,” Agwu said.
The INEC Chairman, who was accompanied by National Commissioners, also visited Oyi and Awka South local government offices to check final preparations.
He directed that all election materials must reach polling units by 7:00am and voting should start by 8:30am without delay.
Amupitan said the Commission had made strong security arrangements to protect voters, staff, and materials.
“We are committed to carrying every stakeholder along. Transparency and partnership remain the bedrock of our credibility,” he added.
