Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma, on Thursday met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa, and sought a refund from the Federal Government of about N32 billion spent by past Imo State administrations on rehabilitation of federal roads in the state.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting with Buhari, Uzodinma said that the consultants he engaged discovered that no less than N32 billion was spent on federal roads in the past.
Lamenting that Imo State was in “financial distress”, he said the funds, if released, would assist in clearing both salary and pension arrears that he inherited.
Uzodinma said he briefed Buhari on the situation of things he met on ground in the state, and that the President was sympathetic to his position.
