The University of Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA), Abuja Branch, has opened a business unit, called UNAA Abuja Business Consult, as part of efforts to diversify funding sources for the association’s projects.

The Consult was formally commissioned recently in Abuja by the President of Abuja Metropolitan Lions Club, District 404A2 Nigeria, Lion Charlz Opusunju.

President of the UNAA, Abuja branch, Comrade Uche Obasi, explained during the commissioning that the Business Consult was borne out of the UNAA constitution and UNAA Business Forum to help the association primarily fend for itself in a bid to check donor’s fatigue.

According to him: “In civilized societies all over the world, associations and organizations are keying into investments to sustain their financial muscles to tackle their noble goals and aspirations.

“Therefore, UNAA Abuja being a model branch will not be left out in the 21st century best practices of alumni associations.

“By this singular development, UNAA Abuja will also be an employer of labour as it expected that UNAA Abuja Business Consult will employ more manpower, especially from the young Lions and Lionesses searching for immediate jobs to keep body and soul together until bigger employment calls.

“UNAA Abuja Business Consult will grow to be a modern robust centre through which business activities will be coordinated with our Alma Mater, and linked to government agencies and parastatals, private sectors, NGOs, charity homes and different organizations.”

In his remarks, Opusunju thanked the association for finding him worthy to unveil the business unit, and assured it that the Lions Club would collaborate with UNAA Abuja in different ways and also hire the UNAA Abuja Alumni centre for some activities of the Club.

He extolled the leadership of UNAA Abuja for having a befitting Alumni Center and called on similar associations and organizations, including Lions Club, to emulate such achievements.

The UNAA Abuja Business Consult will manage the Alumni Centre, including hiring it out for meetings, celebrations, seminars and symposia as it is equipped with internet-powered projector, among other relevant facilities.
