Former Kogi State Deputy Governor, Elder Simon Achuba, has condoled with Kogi State Government and the families of victims of today’s tanker explosion that claimed many lives at Felele in Lokoja on Wednesday.
Achuba, who described the incident as sad and unfortunate, urged those who lost their loved ones in the explosion not to be weighed down with the pains of the incident but be strong in prayers for God to heal their wounds.
Expressing worry over the incident, the former Deputy Governor called on the Federal Government to intervene by constructing either a by-pass or flyover at the area known for several of such occurrences.
According to him, such project, when undertaken by the federal government, would save the lives and properties of the people.
He, therefore, urged the Kogi state government to consider repairing internal roads in Lokoja metropolis and the state in general to avoid continuous loss of lives and property.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the former Deputy Governor, Akor Sylvester, quoted Achuba as saying that while waiting for the construction of the bypass or flyover, members of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other relevant agencies be deployed to the entrance and exit of Lokoja metropolis for the purposes of ensuring maximum speed within Lokoja and it’s environs in order to limit the rate of such ugly incident.
