Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, representing Zaria Federal Constituency, has been elected as the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.
He won a landslide victory, polling 353 votes to defeat the outgoing Deputy Speaker of the House, Idris Wase, who polled only three (3) votes.
The outgoing Majority Leader of the House, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa had earlier nominated Tajudeen Abbas for the position of Speaker and was seconded by Nnolim Nnaji.
Benjamin Kalu, representing Bende federal constituency of Abia State, also emerged Deputy Speaker of the House Representatives.
Abbas and Benjamin Kalu, are the favoured candidates of the APC leadership and Presidency for the position of Speaker and Deputy Speaker, respectively.
