The outgoing chairman of the Abuja council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Emmanuel Ogbeche, has advised his successor, Patrick Osadebamwen to make welfare of journalists under his watch a priority.

The former chairman gave the advice to his successor shortly after an election that brought Osadebamwen to power.

Stating categorically, that he was confident that his successor had the capability to deliver in office, he however told him to carry all along, as well as make transparency his watchdog.

Ogbeche also appealed to the members to support him, which if done,  according to him would make them build the council of their dreams.

The newly elected chairman, promised to move the union forward, even as he enjoined members to make the ethics of journalism profession their watchdog. He also advised each member not to engage into false reportage, or do a report he can’t defend or explain.

Before his election, Osadebamwen was the Vice-Chairman of the FTC council. He takes over from Ogbeche who had been appointed as the Chief Press Secretary to the Cross River State government.
