Police nab impersonators, armed robbers in FCT

Two suspected impersonators have been arrested by operatives attached to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police command in  Nyanya area of the capital city.
Also arrested were two armed robbers including one James Salifu and Umar Hamza.
In a statement by the Command Spokesperson, ASP Yusuf Mariam, the suspects were arrested during a routine stop and search operations.
The armed robbery suspects, according to the statement intended to dispossess their unsuspecting victim of his vehicle.
They, however, confessed to being members of an armed robbery syndicate terrorizing Nyanya axis.
Two locally made pistols, 4 rounds of live ammunition and charms were some of the exhibits recovered from them.

On the suspected impersonators, the statement disclosed that they were arrested for impersonating as military personnel and defrauding members of the public.
“The duo who confessed  of their fraudulent activities, were caught while attempting to rob their victim of his motorcycle along Nyanya bridge.
“Exhibits recovered include a motorcycle and military camoflague,” the statement said.
The Police command, therefore, reiterated its commitment to rid the FCT of every form of criminality and protect the lives and property of residents.
It, therefore, called on residents of the capital city to remain calm and go about their lawful businesses knowing that the police are ready to protect them.
The statement further advised the residents of the FCT to immediately report to the police if they notice any suspicious movements in their vicinity.
