Two armed robbery suspects have been confirmed dead after a fierce encounter with operatives attached the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.
The police engaged the deadly armed robbery gang after receiving a distress call from Yellow Gate in the Dawaki area of Abuja in the FCT.
According to the Command Spokesman, Manzah Anjuguri, the Police operatives overpowered that armed robbery gang after a fierce exchange of bullets.
“Disarrayed by the prompt response of the police operatives, the hoodlums in a bid to escape shot sporadically at the operatives and set fire on a mattress belonging to their victim.
“However, as a result of the superior gun power of the police operatives who responded swiftly, two of the hoodlums sustained serious injuries, while others escaped with bullet wounds.”
The injured suspects, the Command Spokesman said, were later confirmed dead at a hospital where they rushed for medical attention.
Exhibits recovered from them included one locally made pistol, one dane gun, two cutlasses, one iron cutter, empty shells, one Toyota Corolla, one phone, one axe, four plasma television sets and one set of home theatre.
The statement however, disclosed that investigations are on-going to unravel the remaining members gang.
