The Commissioner of Police (CP) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Bala Ciroma, has assured residents of the capital city of his Command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property in the FCT.
He gave the assurance while announcing the arrest of 16 suspected criminals in different parts of the FCT.
The suspects are directly linked to armed robbery, culpable homicide, cultism, car theft, among others.
Four locally made pistols, 5 rounds of live ammunition and other dangerous weapons were recovered.
Also, recovered included 6 cars, N40,000, one mobile phone, and military camouflage from the suspects as exhibits.
In a statement signed by the Force Spokesman, Anjuguri Manzah, four among the suspects are directly linked to the murder of one Ifeanyi Eze, a vigilante, at Giri on July 7, 2020.
The suspects include Kamal Suleiman 29 years, Ali Umar 20years, Mubarak Musa 21years, Abdulmalik Usman 21 years and Yusuf Aliyu 19 years.
They were arrested by police operatives from Gwagwlada Division on July 8, 2020 at Tipper Garage Gwagwalada, after a painstaking police investigation.
“The suspects, who belong to a notorious armed robbery gang operating around Gwagwalada-Zuba axis, have given some useful statements on their involvement in this and other criminal activities in the area.
“The exhibits recovered from the suspects include one locally-made gun, one cutlass, two knives, and one mobile phone,” the statement noted.
Efforts, according to the police, are in place to arrest other members of the syndicate still at large.
