A former Chief Whip of Edo State House of Assembly and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial hopeful, Barrister Paschal Ugbome, has maintained that the controversies surrounding the Edo North Senatorial District authentic candidate for 2023 election, will be resolved in his favour.
PDP is enmeshed in controversies as to who is the candidate that will fly its flag in Edo North Senatorial District this time with the current Senator representing the District, Senator Francis Alimikhena l, who was elected under All Progressives Congress (APC) also laying claim to it.
in a chat with this ExpressDay on Sunday, the lawyer said: “Things will fall in place once this irritation of candidacy is resolved”.
It may be recalled that Senator Alimikhena who is seeking a third term lost the APC ticket to a former Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Desperate to achieve his third term ambition, he defected to PDP and since then, “things have been in disarray in PDP in Edo North”, a respondent who wouldn’t want to be mentioned, said.
Attempts to get the response of Alimikhena proved abortive as he wouldn’t pick his calls or respond to messages sent to his WhatsApp phone number
Ugbome, who is a former Executive Chairman of Etsako Central Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo State, reiterates that he is confident of victory
“The situation will be clear in two weeks time but I’m optimistic that we will clinch it”, he enthused.
