The area 11 command of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Onne, has bagged the award in anti-smuggling at yesterday ‘CGC ( Controller General of Customs) award and gala night in Abuja.
ExpressDay Newspaper monitored the colourful ceremony which was embellished with glitz and glamour.
Some of the dignitaries who graced the occasion are the Inspector General of the Nigerian Police Force, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Chairman, House Committee on Customs, Honourable Olusola Oke and the CGC himself, Adewale Bashir Adeniyi and his Wife.
The Onne Command received the award for best in anti-smuggling by saving a lot of lives from destruction via the interception of arms, ammunition and drugs.
Speaking on the award the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Mohammed Babandede said, “it was a team effort as he could not have don’t it alone if not for the role every officer and men in the Command played in ensuring public health and safety of lives”.
He appreciated every officer and men of the Command for their contribution towards making the country safe.
Several other individuals and organizations also worn awards.
The management of NCS has assured the public that the event will be an annual ceremony of reward for excellence.
