A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Farouk Babalola, has expressed optimism for the success of the candidature of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the 2023 polls, while describing the pattern of campaign of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi as a movie/music orchestra.

In a media chat with ExpressDay on the 2023 general elections in Abuja, the chieftain also described the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as a serial loser.

He argues that APC is solidly on ground in most of the States and will mobilize support and eventual victory for its candidates.

Specifically, he adjudged the presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as a towering political figure whose exploits over the years places him higher than Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, and in good stead to become Nigeria’s next President.

“I see Peter Obi’s style of Campaign as show on Social Media. like a celebrity orchestra. Who knows him in Katsina for instance? The case of the candidate of the PDP is not any better. Atiku is a serial loser.

“We are sure that APC will retain the presidency in this 2023 presidential election”, he posited.

While appreciating that APC has some internal wrangling about the flagging off of its campaign, he said such would be resolved soon and that Tinubu’s current visit abroad was s strategic move towards dousing the tension within the party.

“A lot of people think Asiwaju’s absence in Nigeria has to do with his health. No, it is to relax and douse mounting pressure regarding who should be where in the Campaign Council and it’s is being resolved with our in-house mechanism”, Alhaji Babalola averred.

He defended the ruling party and its choice of presidential candidate and insisted that Tinubu is not too unhealthy to become President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.

Even in the face of the myriad of maladies plaguing Nigeria and her citizens, Babalola insists that the party has done well enough to retain power.

“In terms of infrastructure, APC has done very well under President Muhammadu Buhari, even though we done broadcast it. In the area of security, no Government has spent money in the past like Buhari.

“When he came on board, so many local governments in Borno State were in the hands of the terrorists. But now they have been recovered. Government is a continuum and Tinubu is coming with his agenda for development”, he said.

On Tinubu’s absence at the International Conference Centre (ICC) to sign the peace accord, Babalola had this to say:

“What matters is that we signed the peace accord. Senator Shettima, the Vice Presidential candidate was there to represent Tinubu. In 2019, Atiku travelled abroad and was represented by Peter Obi who was then his running mate.”
