Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State on Monday visited President Muhammadu Buhari and formally presented his All Progressive Congress (APC) re-election form to him.
The visit is coming ahead of the governorship primary election of the party scheduled for this month.
Obaseki’s predecessor and political godfather, who is now national chairman of the party, Adam Oshiomhole, has however, begun moves to deny the Governor the primary ticket.
Briefing State House Correspondents on the purpose of the visit, the Governor said that although President Buhari was like a father to him, it would be inappropriate to assume or take things for granted, hence the decision to formally inform him of the re-election bid.
On other happenings in the State, Obaseki revealed that over 300,000 Edo residents have been screened for Covid-19 out of the 500,000 target set by the his government.
He also vowed to bring to book the killers of the 100-level student of the University of Benin, Miss Uwaila Omozuwa.
