- No presidential broadcast toda ...

President Muhammadu Buhari will not address the nation today on his next decisions concerning the easing of lockdown or curfew he imposed on the country as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This is contrary to the hint given by Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covid-19, Dr. Sani Aliyu, during an interview on a national television station that the President would announce to Nigerians his decision on next phase of easing lockdown today.
Aliyu spoke following a meeting between the PTF members and Buhari at the Presidential Villa yesterday when the team briefed the President on the progress made as well as the challenges encountered in combating the Covid-19 scourge.
However, presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, took to Twitter this afternoon to disclose that no such broadcast or address to the nation by Buhari was planned and that there won’t be any.
He explained that the PTF, headed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, would use the opportunity of its daily press briefing to update Nigerians on whatever decisions that have been taken.
Adesina said on his Twitter handle that: “No presidential broadcast on COVID-19 updates today. None was planned. Rather, the Presidential Task Force will during its usual media briefings bring the nation up to speed on the next steps.”
