The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd. has assured consumers that there is no imminent increase in the cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.

The assurance came after marketers claimed that the pump price could rise to high as N1,200 per litre due to the fall of the Naira to the dollar in the foreign exchange market.

But NNPC Ltd in a statement by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Mr. Olufemi Soneye urges Nigerians to “disregard unfounded rumours” and assured them that there are no plans for an upward review of the PMS price.

“Motorists nationwide are advised against engaging in panic buying, as there is presently ample availability of PMS across the country’, Soneye added.
