The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has commended the Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Dauda Lawal and his Anambra State counterpart, Professor Chukwuma Soludo for appointing members of the Institute into key positions in government.
A press release made available to Expressday stated: “While Gov. Lawal appointed Mr. Bello Abdullahi Gusau as the pioneer Managing Director of the newly created Zamfara State Media Corporation (ZSMC), Governor Soludo appointed a member of Council of NIPR, Prof. Kate Omenugha as the Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University (COOU)”.
In a commendation letter dated 4th December, 2023 addressed to the Governor of Zamfara State, the NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku applauded the governor for his decision to restructure the State media organization for more effective and efficient public communication through the creation of ZSMC, the release said.
Dr. Neliaku further stated, “the decision to appoint a certified Public Relations practitioner as the pioneer Managing Director of the corporation has projected the Governor as a leader with vision and passion for professionalism and excellence.
He said:!”The NIPR as the foremost professional body established by the Act of the National Assembly, to regulate the practice of Public Relations in Nigeria commends you for encouraging hard work and professionalism through the appointment of Mr. Bello Abdullahi Gusau, a licensed member of the Public Relations profession as the pioneer MD, Zamfara State Media Corporation.”
In the same vein, the NIPR boss applauded Governor Soludo for the choice of Prof. Omenugha, a fellow of the Institute as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the state-owned Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), commending his leadership ability to identify talents and engage them in their areas of specialties.
The Institute says Gov. Soludo’s action is a firm commitment to deepening the culture of excellence in governance.
“While wishing you outstanding success in your efforts to transform Anambra State, please, be assured of our institutional support for both the State government and Prof. Kate Omenugha in her new responsibility”, the letter further stated.
In his own remarks, the Abuja Chapter Chairman of NIPR, Stanley Ogadigbo refered to the twin appointments as commendable and exemplary.
“It’s in our ethics to have our professionals as either heads or part of the head, so they can contribute meaningfully to policy formulation. I would like to encourage other strata of government to toe the line of Governor Lawal and Governor Soludo”, he said.
