National telecommunication company, Globaom has commended Nigerians across the country for their resilience and patriotism over the years, as Nigeria marks its 60th independence anniversary.
Globacom, in a goodwill message issued in Lagos congratulated Nigerians and their leaders, who have worked hard to keep the nation together as one.
The Company said “It’s been 60 years of resilience, determination and a never-say-die spirit for Nigeria. For Glo, it’s been 17 years of imbibing and showcasing this same spirit to the world,”
It noted that the country’s continuous existence as a nation despite numerous challenges in the last 60 years, deserved to be celebrated by all Nigerians, adding that our multi-ethnic configuration and cultural diversity should continue to bind us together as one indivisible entity.
“Nigerians as a people should consider the unity of the country as a project that must be upheld by all of us irrespective of our diversities. In the same vein, the continued wellness and security of all compatriots from all tribes and religious divides should be of utmost importance to everyone,” the company added.
Speaking further on the need for national unity, Globacom said “All Nigerians should emphasise more on the values that unite us and ignore those that put wedges of attrition between us. We must love and respect one another and hold dear the sanctity of life of every Nigerian in all nooks and crannies of the country; we must relegate our tribal and religious differences, and hold dear the harmony, safety and progress of the nation and its peoples”.
The company reiterated the role that digital telephony particularly, Global Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) has played in the life of Nigerians, with Globacom leading the way with the introduction of Per Second Biling, as well as crashing of SIM prices at inception, which opened the way for Nigerians not only to own SIMs, but also to enjoy delightful telephone experience.
Globacom therefore wished Nigeria more years of growth and development ahead.
