Niger confirms kidnap of Information Commissioner

Niger State government on Monday confirmed the kidnap of the state Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Sani Idris.

A terse press statement by Mary Noel-Berje, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, stated that the Commissioner was kidnapped by bandits from his home at Babantunga village in Tafa Local Government Area of the state, in the early hours of Monday.

According to the statement, security agencies are currently trailing the bandits with a view to apprehending them.
