The Board of the National Hospital Abuja, has faulted media report on the processes of appointing the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) of the hospital.
It explained that the Board of the hospital has followed laid down procedures contrary to the report which it described as bias.
In a statement signed by the Spokesman of the National Hospital, Dr. Tayo Haastrup, in Abuja, Friday, the hospital said: “In arriving at their recommendation and resolution, the Board considered the election of the MDCAN, interview conducted by the Board, performance of the three candidates and the power conferred on the Board by the extant law on the appointment of CMAC/DCS.
“The decision of the Board is in the overall interest of the patients which is the primary assignment of the hospital, staff, Management and the Nation in general.”
According to the statement: “The attention of the Board and Management of National Hospital Abuja has been drawn to an online Publication of the Vanguard Newspaper of 23rd June 2021.
“The writer was biased and the report is not a true representation of what transpired on the appointment of CMAC/DCS in National Hospital Abuja. It is an effort to pre-empt the decision of the Board on this matter as the publication came out before the decision of the Board.
“The Board at its 24th Meeting of June 2021 successfully deliberated on the appointment of CMAC in line with the extant law.”
