The Nasarawa State Government has reeled out 10 strategic measures that must be observed in Emergency Operation Centers (EOC) in the State.
The incident manager, COVID-19 Emergency Operation Center, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu, disclosed that the state has nine coordinating pillars as directed by the federal ministry of health, with an additional one which was created by the State.
Dr. Adamu who is also the Director Public Health at the state Ministry of Health, said that the EOC has successfully trained about 4,000 health care workers, stressing that 2000 are in Dalhatu Araf Specailist Hospital (DASH).
According to him, there is a coordinating pillar, responsible for overseeing the day to day running of the ECO; to mobilised human, material and financial resources; while epidomology and surveillance pillars are to galvanized all drugs and consumables used in prosecuting the diseases outbreak.
He added that there was also a risk and communication pillar, logistic pillar and case management pillar. All these, he said, are charged with the responsibility of treating confirmed cases.
There is also a counseling pillar, being the addition the state made to counsel those who think and feel that the disease is a scam, so as to educate them on the risks associated with contracting the disease.
Dr. Adamu further said there is also the security and personal health pillar, a research pillar, as well as a rapid response pillar, who are spread across the 13 local government areas in the state to respond appropriately in case there is disease outbreak in the rural areas.
He, however, revealed that the state has two isolation centers; one in DASH and the other is in FMC Keffi.
He added that Nasarawa state government has done much in ensuring the screening, quarantine, isolation as well as treatment of patients with COVID-19.
