
Nasarawa State on Monday recorded its first rainfall in 2020, a development that brought relief to the residents of the area who had been complaining of intense heat since the past few weeks.
The rain, which began at 5:30 pm lasted for over an hour in Wamba, Akwanga, Garaku and Keffi.
However, the state capital Lafia, known for its harsh weather, did not experience the rain.
The heavy rainfall was accompanied by heavy winds but without storms or thunder, making some residents of the affected areas to describe it as a huge blessing.
A resident of Akwanga, Coach Toks Adeyoye, told our correspondent that the rainfall was a huge relief.
According to him, it cooled the environment and enabled the residents to sleep better.
Princess Fati, in Wamba, said that the rain would facilitate farming. She hoped that the cooling effect of the rain would last long.
A resident of Garaku, Miss Shini, said the rain was a welcome development and a great relief, as she thanked God for releasing the rain.
In Lafia, the state capital, however, it was windy, mixed with the usual hot breeze.
