
The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested 19 armed robbery suspects, 14 kidnappers, six cultists and six rapists.
The Command has also disclosed that it has recovered N1,486,040.00, a motorcycle, as well as firearms and ammunition.
At a press conference on Tuesday, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police (CP), Bola Emmanuel Longe, said these were possible sustained efforts and commitment towards actualising a crime-free State.
He declared that the unsavory activities of criminals who are desperate to making a living at the expense of the law abiding and hardworking people of the state would not be tolerated.
He explained that criminals and armed robbery suspects were arrested at Karu LGA after a fierce resistance at Tipper Garage, where some suspects including Dauda Garba, Ibrahim Musa, Suleiman Isah, Rotshak Isaac, Mohammed Lamido and Sani Shaibu, all within the youthful ages of 20 to 36 years were arrested.
Longe said that items that were recovered from them included 1 locally made revolver pistol,12 rounds of Live cartridges,11 expended cartridges, 1 knife ,2 iron cutters,3 cutlasses,1 pair of blue police uniforms, 11 phones of different brands and 1 HP mini Laptop.
He added that the suspects confessed to the crime and will be charged to court after investigation is concluded.
The police boss revealed that one Yahaya Yakubu of Angwan Nupawa in Keffi ,reported that his 3- year- old daughter was tricked into a room by one Sadiq Dahiru ,a 22 years old man who subsequently raped her and that the suspect was later arrested.
He further said that acting on tip-off, the police moved and arrested one Paul Umaru, 25 years at Masaka, who had abducted the daughter of one Mr Nwaiwu Oliver and three others and taken to Kogi. He, however, said based on the information the girls were rescued.
The CP has, therefore, warned that all criminal elements in the state and their allies who might be nursing agenda that are inimical to the safety and security of the good citizens of the state to desist from such act as the police will not relent in mobilizing all resources within its disposal to confront and neutralize their criminal tendencies.
