Nasarawa State Traditional Council led by the Emir of Lafia, Justice Muhammad Sidi Bage and heads of securities agencies in the state have thrown their weight behind the several initiatives introduced by the state governor, Abdullahi Sule to ensure peaceful coexistence between all ethnic groups in the state.
The move by the stakeholders was taken during an extra ordinary security meeting in Lafia, the state capital.
State Chairman, Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, Justice Sidi Bage, on behalf of other First Class monarchs said that they will continue to support the effort of the governor in the fight against crime and criminality in the state.
Justice Sidi, who commended the governor for creating an atmosphere that is capable of enshrining peace among citizens of the state assured that they will give full backing in their various domain as custodians of the culture of the people in order to halt the activities of criminals in the society.
The monarch who frowned at the increasing rate of crime in the state stressed that the traditional rulers will play a role by collaborating with security personnel by making available information that will lead to proactive measures.
Speaking, the Commandant, 4 special forces, Major General Maunde Ali Gazama, applauded the monarchs and the state government for championing a meeting that has to do with the safety of citizens.
General Gazama however, warned against the unpatriotic act of invading communities with arms on slightest provocation.
He expressed concern that most of the criminal elements that were so far apprehended are mostly from the Fulani extraction.
General Gazama, however, called on both the Fulani leaders and the traditional rulers to key in behind the security by providing useful information that can lead to flushing out of criminals in their various hideouts within the communities.
On his part, Governor Sule commended the traditional rulers for conveying the meeting aimed at bringing unity and progress to the entire state.
Engr Sule further appealed to them to always maintain peace as well as give him their fatherly advice towards ensuring lasting peace.
