In an effort to ensure that residents of Nasarawa state have access to essential drugs in an affordable price, the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency (NASHIA), yesterday met with other stakeholders including service providers in order to validate essential drugs and service charges.
The meeting which was held at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs , Shendam Road, Lafia, was highly attended by all stakeholders in the health sector in the state.
Speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Gaza Gwamna, noted that the meeting was convened for the Agency and service providers as partners to validate the prices of drugs and services charge of the benefit packages that would be covered by the health insurance.

According to him, plans have been concluded to flag off the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) in the state.
He noted that all accredited secondary facilities, whether government or private would receive beneficiary patients from the BHCPF facilities, provided the beneficiary produce his or her ID card and normal referral protocol is followed.
On her part, the State Coordinator of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in Nasarawa state, Mrs. Mary Aliyu applauded the efforts of the NASHIA which she described as encouraging.
She called on the agency and all stakeholders in the health sector in the state to sustain the partnership in order to provide qualitative health care services to residents of the state.
