Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has pledged to give women equal opportunities to participate in politics like their male counterparts.
He stated this at the disbursement of take-off grant to 150 trainees of Women Entrepreneur and Skill Acquisition (WESA) on Tuesday in Lafia.
According to him, his administration will ensure that women get maximum support to be fielded in elective position in both the state, the local government and the State Assembly levels.
The Governor who made a personal donation of N10,000 to each of the 150 women, supported the cash donation with a bag of Semovita each.

“I had no reason to be here for this donation, but to encourage your skills and to help your businesses stand, I have to come myself and make this personal donation to you,” Gov Sule stressed.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Halima A. Jabiru, said that the beneficiaries were drawn from across the 13 local government areas in the state.
According to her, the women have undergone training in entrepreneurship as well as skills acquisition, which included production of hand sanitisers, liquid soaps, body creams, perfumes, cakes and bread making, among others.
Jabiru pointed out that the training was targeted at building women careers and empowering them to be self-reliant so that they can support their families and also contribute to the economic development of the state.
