Nasarawa State Governor, Engr Abdullahi Sule, has commended security agencies operating in the state for dislodging and destroying camps set up by bandits and kidnappers in parts of the state.
The Governor made the commendation on Friday during the State Executive Council meeting which held at the Government House, Lafia.
He expressed appreciation, particularly, with the combined forces comprising the military, Special Forces in Doma, 177 Brigade Keffi, Operation Whirl Stroke, including the Air Force and Navy, currently undertaking a joint operation, in Toto Local Government Area, aimed at bringing to an end activities of bandits and kidnappers in the state.
According to Sule, “security operatives have succeeded in destroying most camps belonging to bandits, forcing them to flee the area, leaving behind their families, leaving the state government in custody of close to 500 women and children.”
The Governor added that the state government has reached out to both the Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs, as well as the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), with a view to seeking their support in taking care of the displaced family members of the bandits.
He specifically commended President Muhammadu Buhari, as well as members of his security team, that gave Nasarawa State the support in seeing that the emerging security threat is removed completely.
