Nasarawa State Government has completed the construction of diagnostic centre for medical research and treatment of infectious diseases, including Lassa Fever, Ebola and Coronavirus.
The State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, on Friday expressed satisfaction with the quality of work after inspecting the facility.
The Governor noted that the project was started by his predecessor, but that he was happy that the project was successfully completed by his administration.
He explained that his administration ensured the completion of the project including landscaping and planting of flowers except the road leading to the Centre which will soon be completed.
According to him: “We shall be commissioning the research centre very soon. I am happy to tell you that when this project will be fully equipped, it shall serve not only the purpose of treatment of the coronavirus alone but other infectious diseases like Ebola, lassa fever and even malaria.
“I will also want you to know that the equipping of the centre may not be done alongside with the commissioning, however, you are aware that Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) visited the state days ago, which they were taken round by the deputy governor and the Chief Medical Director.
“So, we are in talking terms with partners who have indicated interest to support us while we play our part to ensure that the centre becomes fully operational for research.”
