The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has called on the State Government to establish fire service response units in all the 13 Local Government Areas in order to avert incessant fire outbreaks in the state.
Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, announced the House resolution after Hon Musa Iyimoga ( ZLP- Doma North) raised the issue under matters of public interest.
Balarabe- Abdullahi said that the provision of fire service response units with modern equipment would go a long way in curbing the frequent fire outbreaks across the state.
Earlier, Iyimoga ( ZLP- Doma North) while raising the issue under the matters of public interest, said that Doma market and some residential houses were engulfed by fire last year.
He called for proactive measures in the area of provision of fire service response unit with modern equipment in order to forestall any reoccurrence.
Contributing, Hon Abel Bala ( PDP-Nassarawa Eggon West), Hon Aliyu Dogara (APC-Wamba), Hon Mohammed Omadefu (APC-Keana) and Hon David Maiyaki (PDP-Karu/Gitata), supported the motion.
They reiterated the need for the state government to do the needful by providing fire service response units in all the local government headquarters across the state.
In a related development, the Speaker slated March 17, 2020, for deliberation on a report of the House Standing Committee on Judiciary, Ethics and Privileges on a Bill for a Law to Provide for the Management of Funds of the Nasarawa State Judiciary and for Other Related Matters as presented by Hon Mohammed Ibrahim Alkali, the Acting Chairman of the Committee.
