Nasarawa State Government has presented a comprehensive report of how much the state has so far received from private organisations and individuals as support to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lafia, Thursday, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, disclosed that the monies received by the Covid-19 committee he chairs from March to June was N100.12 million.

The Deputy Governor revealed that the above donation came from individuals, private organisations, traditional rulers and students, under the umbrella of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

He, however, said that the government spent N536 million.

According to him, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Keystone bank, Chinese mining company were among the private organizations that contributed various sums of money.

While giving the breakdown, Dr Akabe said N74.7 million was used as working cash, while Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH) got #3.4million, justice and security sectors received N74 million, N1.8 million went for secretariat services and Agriculture Ministry received N134million.

The state governor and his deputy made personal donations amounting to N10 million, Umar Akwe Doma donated N250.000, Adron Home,N20million, but that the organisation requested the state government to give N8 million from their donation to the Sarkin Uke.

The Deputy Governor however, opened up that no financial support came to the state from the federal government.

Dr. Akabe lamented that despite all the measures put in place to halt the spread of the disease in the state, some individuals have continued to violate the restriction order of social gathering and flagrantly refused to wear face masks.

He said government has put in so much in ensuring that screening, quarantine, isolation and treatments were in accordance with international best practices and in tandem to the administration’s policy of transparency, accountability and prudent management of public funds.
