The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, Likita Abubakar, while arrested conveying 53 AK-47 magazines and 260 rounds of live ammunition to an unknown destination.

Abubarkar is said to be a notorious bandit/kidnapper who had been terrorising people along Akwanga/Keffi highway and has been on the wanted list of the police.
He was in the early hours of Saturday at the popular Alushi junction, Akwanga
Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Police Command, ASP Ramhan Nansel, made the disclosure in an interview with journalists on Saturday in Lafia.
He explained that a team of police officers on patrol intercepted the man at Akwanga Local Government Area of the state while he was conveying the weapons and got him arrested.
“A suspected criminal who has been on the wanted list of the Nasarawa State Police Command for offences ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping was sighted today at Alushi Junction, Akwanga LGA.
“A detachment of police operatives attached to Akwanga Division were immediately deployed to the area and one Likita Abubakar, a 35-year-old man was arrested and we were able to recover 53 empty magazines, 260 rounds of live ammunition and cash sum of N38,500 as exhibits,” he said.
In another twist, however, a source who was selling fruits to motorists at the spot the incident happened said Likita was on motorcycle while a private Honda accord car was following behind not knowing that the suspect at his front was carrying Ammunitions.
“The Honda accord car accidentally pushed off the motorcycle and the man fell off from the motorcycle though the accident was not that serious.
“While the Fulani guy fell down the young men who tried to rescue him noticed that the bag that fell splashed out some metallic substances
“After the accident the Fulani man tried to put the content that splashed from the bag together to continue his journey,
“It was at that moment that the attention of the people comprising males and females, mainly youths were drawn to discover that those items in the bag were arms and ammunition.
“The angry youths gave him a thorough beating, but when the joint police team arrived they handed him over to the police but set his motorcycle ablaze right there.”
