The remains of Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, have arrived Abuja for internment.
Kyari died on Friday night in Lagos after falling sick to Covid-19 and receiving treatment at a private facility in Lagos for three weeks.
The corpse was brought to the Defence House, Maitama in Abuja shortly before 10 am in an ambulance by fully kitted health officials.
Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu announced this morning that the burial of the late Kyari would be a private affair, following appropriate health protocols for such situation.
Besides, no condolence visits or public ceremonies, he stated.
Shehu said in a statement: “We just received the body of Abba Kyari the deceased Chief of Staff the President in Abuja.
“In strict observation of the protocol put in place for the burial of Coronavirus victims by the @NCDCgov and the Federal Ministry of Health, the funeral prayer and burial will be private.
“Thereafter, there will be no such ceremonies as condolence visits. Well meaning friends, family members and the general public are encouraged to pray for the repose of Abba Kyari’s soul.
“May Allah grant the family and nation the fortitude to bear the loss.”
