The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has announced the extension of the Covid-19 lockdown by another one week.
ExpressDay notes that the two-week lockdown declared on the State by President Muhammadu Buhari, expired yesterday, Monday.
In a statement early today signed by the Kano State Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Garba, the Governor explained that the decision to extend the lockdown by another one week was to enable the state government put measures in place to halt the further spread of the Covid-19 in the State.
The decision, the Governor said, was taken in consultation with the various stakeholders in the health sector and the federal government.
He called for patience, support and understanding of all Kano residents, stressing that the government was aware of the pain and hardship the extension of the lockdown will cause to them.
Ganduje further advised the people to continue to strictly observe instructions given by the government by regularly washing their hands, wearing of face masks and social distancing.
