The 23 remaining hostages of the Boko Haram terrorists attack last March 28 on a train heading to Kaduna from Abuja, have been freed.
This was disclosed Wednesday in a news release signed by the Secretary of the Chief of Defense Staff Action Committee (CDSAC), Professor Usman Yusuf.
He said: “I’m pleased to announce to the Nation and the World that at about 1600hrs (4:00pm) today, Wednesday 15/10/2022 the seven-man presidential Committee assembled by the Chief of Defense Staff, (CDS), General Lucky Irabor, secured the release and took custody of all the remaining 23 passengers held hostage by Boko Haram terrorists following the attack on the Abuja to Kaduna Train on 28/3/2022”.
The presidential committee attributed this feat to God and President Muhammadu Buhari; and urged the citizenry to have faith in Government’s preparedness to rid the nation of crime and criminality.
Yusuf also showered encomiums on the military, saying: “The nation owes a debt of gratitude to the Nigerian Military under the leadership of the CDS who conceived and guided the operation from start to finish”.
He added that sister security agencies and the Federal Ministry of Transportation played complementary roles in the operation.
