Solid-mineral rich Iyuku community in Etsako-West local government area (LGA) of Edo State is in a celebratory mood. This is in commemoration of the second anniversary of the coronation of the traditional ruler of the place, Chief Ilegieuno Bawakson Zekeriyau.
Expressday Newspaper’s investigation reveals that the community head was crowned on August 15, 2023 by King of Uzairue clan, Alhaji Kadiri Imonikhe, Omogbai 111.
This reporter went round Iyowu, Ugbenor, Iyakhala and Olele, the four quarters of the community and interacted with townspeople. The joy on the faces was palpable and visible despite the harsh economic realities confronting much of the wider Nigeria.
A youth who simply identified himself as Osho said, “The main event is 15th and an all-night party is taking place. A musician is coming to play. The anniversary is worth it “.
In a congratulatory message to Chief Ilegieuno, Daudu Oyakhamoh, Adamu Shittu who acts as the Chief’s eyes and ears in Abuja, Nassarawa, Niger and Plateau States wrote, “On behalf of my family, and the good people of Iyuku Akakudo Abuja branch, which comprises the FCT, Nasarawa,Niger and Plateau state, I congratulate Your Royal Majesty on the joyous occasion of your 2nd Anniversary as The Okwi-Iyukugbe of Iyuku, Adororo II.
“Your reign over the past two years has been marked by wisdom, humility, and a deep commitment to the peace, unity, and progress of our great kingdom. Your efforts in fostering harmony among our people and strengthening our cultural heritage are commendable and worthy of emulation.
“This milestone is not only a celebration of your leadership but also a testament to the collective support and love you have earned from the Iyuku community and beyond. It is our prayer that the Almighty continues to grant you good health, long life, and divine wisdom to lead us to even greater heights.
“As we gather to mark this special anniversary, may it usher in more blessings, prosperity, and peace for Your Royal Highness, the royal council, and the entire Iyuku Kingdom”.
