
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja met with a delegation of elders from Borno and Yobe States, ravaged by insurgency and terrorism.
Governors of the two States – Babagana Zulum (Borno) and Mai-Mala Buni (Yobe) led the delegation, which comprised former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima and Ministers of State Agriculture, Mustapha Shehuri and Minister of State-Works and Housing, Abubakar Aliyu.
Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Chief of Statff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar, also attended the meeting.
Also present at the meeting were the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd) and the Director-General of State Security Service, Yusuf Bichi.
Details of the meeting are yet to be officially made available, although it is believed to be related to preferring solutions to the security issues plaguing both states.
