Insecurity: State of emergency not solution, says Masari

Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, has said that declaring a state of emergency in parts of the country over spiralling insecurity would not solve the problem.

He bared his mind to State House Correspondents on Thursday after his meeting with the Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Governor’s position came two days after the House of Representatives, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency on security, following the recent taking over of 42 communities in Niger State by Boko Haram, among other security challenges across the country.

According to him, the military are already overstretched, hence declaration a state of emergency will amount to stretching them even more.

He appealed to Nigerians to stop politicizing security issues, saying that policing the nation at this critical time is everybody’s business.
