The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has putty on hold the declaration of the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) as the winner of the November 6, 2021 Anambra State Governorship election.

This is because the Commission has declared the election inconclusive and has therefore ordered that a supplementary election will be conducted in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra state on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 before a winner will be announced.

The announcement for the suspension of further collation of results was made by INEC
Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of University of Calabar, Prof. (Mrs) Florence Obi, who stated at INEC State Headquarters in Awka early Monday morning that the Commission would not make any declaration until Ihiala LGA results, with 323 Polling Units and 148,407 registered voters are collated, in accordance with the Electoral Law.

Before declaring the election inconclusive, Professor Obi had read out the total results from 20 out of 21 LGAs already declared, revealing that APGA polled a total of 103,946 votes to lead the pack while the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) garnered a total of 51,322 votes to place second.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) placed third with a total of 42,942 just as the Young Progressive Party (YPP) got 20,917 to place fourth.
