The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, on Tuesday presided over the Commission’s weekly management meeting at its headquarters in Abuja.

This is sequel to viral mendacious claims on social media that he has been sacked. The misinformation which spread like wild fire alleged that President Bola Tinubu had replaced Yakubu with Prof. Bashiru Olamilekan. Of course it’s been duly debunked by the presidency.

Reacting to an inquiry by ExpressDay the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, discountenanced the mendacity. “Please, disregard. It is not true”, Oyekanmi told this Newspaper.
