Two weeks after premature delivery of a set of triplets in a private hospital, 20-year-old Nkechi Ezenwa, and her babies have been moved to the Federal Medical Center, Owerri for medical care for proper medicare to safeguard their lives.
Nkechi, who hails from Umuna Ubommiri in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State, was raped while she hawked bananas and the incident resulted in the pregnancy.
First Lady of Imo State, Barrister Chioma Uzodimma, who announced the relief to Nkechi and the children today, also offered to pay the medical bills incurred at a private hospital.
The First Lady was represented by the State Commissioner for Gender Affairs, Hon Nkechi Ugwu.
This is even as Senator Uche Ekwunife, representing Anambra Central, made a donation of N500,000, diapers, and toiletries to the young mother.
Kind-spirited individuals in the State have also been pouring in their numbers to donate money and items to offset the bill put at over N300,000, while plans are underway to build her a house.
Delivered via a caesarian section, Nkechi cried out in viral video to the public to help offset her bills, and keep the premature babies alive.
She was first admitted at a Health Center in her community on June 14, 2020, where she was delivered of one of the triplets, but unable to continue the delivery, she was swiftly moved to another hospital in Owerri, the State capital, where she completed the delivery by caesarian section.
According to her, about six cylinders of oxygen had been expended on the babies to them alive, while she had received blood transfusions.
