New Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Ibrahim Gambari, has proclaimed that he would be reporting straight to the President and not to the nation, in the course of his new assignment.
He spoke to journalists this afternoon shortly after his first official function at the Aso Rock Villa – an online Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Asked what Nigerians expect of him as Chief of Staff to the President, the former External Affairs Minister said: “I have not started, so I will find out and maybe… I don’t report directly to the nation, I report directly to the President”.
He stressed that “I think he needs my loyalty, competence and support”, adding that his guiding principle as the Chief of Staff will be “to serve the President to the best of my ability”.
Gambari also thanked the President “for giving me this opportunity to serve him and of the country.”
