IGP vows to put police officers on their toes to halt insecurity

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, has assured the men and officers of the Force will be put on their toes to ensure that insecurity is reduced to the barest minimum in the country.
He gave the assurances when assessing the deployment of police personnel along Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway and Abua-Jere-Kaduna, on Sunday.
The IGP ‘s assessment tour was in company of senior officers including the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Federal Operations, FHQ, Abuja, Bala Ciroma, and DCP Police Mobile Force (PMF), Grema Jibir Isa.
This is even as the IGP has enter into partnership with the Nigerian Guild of Actors in order to improve the image of the Force.
Speaking while on the assessment tour, IGP Baba stressed that he is committed to ensuring the sustainability of the security arrangements along the Abuja- Kaduna- axis, noting that: “Such supervisory moves would be extended to other parts of the country as soon as possible.”
Meanwhile, in an effort to improve the public perception and portrayals of the Nigeria Police Force in movies and other creative content produced by the Nigeria movie and entertainment industry, the IGP has entered into partnership with the leadership of Nigeria Guild of Actors.
In a statement signed by the Force Spokesman, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP met with the Guild and critically deliberated on topical issues of national security viz-a-viz intelligence gathering and community partnership.
The meeting, according to the statement, also discussed areas of possible collaboration to shape positive thoughts and narratives, portray good values, and resuscitate Nigerian cultures through movies, skits, creative content.
This is order to impress positively on the Nigerian public, add value to our system, provide police officers with modern innovations to actively carry out policing duties and on-screen role models who would influence their lives and career, and consequently improve security mechanisms in Nigeria.
The police authority reiterated the readiness of the Nigeria Police Force to brainstorm alongside the guild in harnessing the potentials within Nollywood to achieve seamless synergy aimed at building a change in narratives with regards to police portrayals in movies, skits, etc and other ideological perspectives that can improve internal security.
The Nigeria Police Force equally assured that it has set up mechanisms to ensure prompt approvals of requests for uniforms, kits, and other police props in movie productions to stimulate required and seamless collaboration.
Speaking earlier, the President of the Guild of Actors, Ejezie Emeka Rollas, commended the current police leadership, especially, the IGP Usman Alkali Baba, for the opportunity to collaborate and promote good and meaningful ideals after twenty-four years of the Guild’s existence.
