Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Alkali Baba says he is yet to receive any formal extradition request from the United States (US) government or its Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for the embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari.
DCP Kyari was accused of compromising investigation after taking bribe from Ramoni Adekunle, alias Hushpuppi, who is currently standing trial in the United States for identity thief and other related cyber crimes.
Addressing journalists, at the weekly Presidential Media Team briefing, on Thursday, Baba said “I have not seen any extradition request on Kyari from the FBI or any other agency,” adding that the police only looked at the allegations of fraud and other misdemeanor against the officer.
Baba said the police has concluded its investigations on Kyari and forwarded to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) for advice adding that the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice has forwarded his own advice on the case to the police.
He pledged that the police would to act on the advice of the AGF “to ask Kyari to account for what we have found out”.
