Stiff resistance and professionalism built around the determination to win the war against crime and criminality are beginning to yield the needed result in Nasarawa state.
This is as a result of the launch of the ‘Operation Puff Adder’ policing mechanism of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammad Adamu, which the Nasarawa Police Command keyed into.
With the application of several policing strategies in the state under the leadership of the current Commissioner of Police (CP), Emmanuel Bola Longe, there has been huge reduction of crime in the state in recent times.
Recoveries of fire arms and ammunitions, vehicles and other automobile and the prosecution of suspected criminals has been the hallmark of the command.
Some of the recent achievements recorded by the command through the deployment of sophisticated intelligence gathering included the arrest of 35 suspects, recovery of two fire arms, seven AK 47 raffles and locally made pistols.
Among other recovered items by the command in the year 2020 are; two vehicles and two motor cycles.
Briefing journalists recently, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Bola Longe, disclosed that the state has witnessed tremendous peace and reduction of crime-related activities since the beginning of the year.
According to the CP: “I want to intimate the public of some of our major achievements for the two months.
“This feat is a product of collaborative efforts between the police and public spirited citizens of the state, a synergy which was being further propelled by the aggressive philosophy of Operation Puff Adder.”
He revealed that, apart from the intensity of information gathering through the deployment of operatives on strategic area surveillance, Technical Intelligence was also applied.
Longe stated that arrest for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and homicide was made possible by an information on February 5, 2020, where a group of armed robbers attacked and dispossessed a motorcyclist.
According to him, upon the dispatched of police patrol team, the fleeing suspect, a 25-years- old Hussain Musa, was arrested.
Another 40-yers-old armed robbery suspect/kidnapper, Musa Adamu, and two others, were arrested by the Special Anti – Robbery Squad (SARS) with one fabricated AK 47 riffle.
Still, as part of the Command’s achievements, the CP said that two major suspected criminals were apprehended and paraded.
A lady who masterminded the kidnap of her neighbor was also napped by men of the command.
Also, the CP said, the Command recovered seven AK 47 from a terrorist armed robbery gang that always terrorised people plying Lafia-Makurdi road.
The CP, therefore, called on the general public and traditional institutions in the state to sustained their cooperation and support to his Command in order to rid the state of crime.
CP Longe applauded the Nasarawa state government for its consistent support to his command.
