As electioneering campaigns hit top gear in Edo State ahead of September 21 polls, a notable politician, High Chief Talib Musa aka Chief Sahara has charged “analysts to conduct research around the three senatorial districts of Edo State and confirm a truism of movement in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC)”.
Alhaji Musa enthused in an interaction with this reporter, “I have not always been an APC member. And I’m not the only leader who can affirm that APC has become a magnet in Edo State. I mean check out the exploits of our father, Comrade Senator Adams Oshiomhole. He has done a lot for us, especially Edo North where I come from and we can’t let him down”.
Chief Sahara who is from ward 5, Okpella in Etsako-East local government area (LGA) argued that people of electoral value are trooping to APC and this will make the party defeat the opposition on the voting day.
“APC taking over Edo is not a thing we should be debating, in Edo north for instance APC will beat PDP hand’s down, In Okpella my own place we shall deliver APC 80%”, the Chieftain said.
Talib Musa went further to say that what Edo people find distasteful about PDP is the absence of fulfillment of electoral promises made by the current Governor of the State Godwin Obaseki.
When this newspaper sought the opinion of some people in the State, they averagely sat on the fence.
“Obaseki is not friendly but I see him using power of incumbency to retain the government house for PDP”, Ibrahim Abu, a young voter opined in an interaction.
According to official information of the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), 17 political parties are fielding candidates in the September 21 Edo Governorship election. The most popular of the candidates are Monday Okpewholo (APC); Asue Ighodalo (PDP) and Olumide Akpata, Labour Party (LP).
