The Imo State Police command has commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the murder of a businessman, Ugochukwu Oguine, by yet to be identified gunmen.
Oguine hailed from Anara in Isiala Mbano local government area of Imo State,
Sources said the incident happened at about midnight, just before the Assemblies of God church on Okigwe /Owerri expressway caused panic, as people scampered to safety.
The source who pleaded anonymity said Oguine after the gunshots, managed and drove to Bonimas petroleum station in Anara, his hometown where he was rushed to the hospital, but died there.
When contacted, the state police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Orlando Ikeokwu, said that the state commissioner of police has ordered a thorough investigation into the killing.
He said already, the police boss has dispatched operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad and Anti- Kidnapping Unit of the command to the scene of the murder to get useful information.
Ikeokwu said the command will apprehend the yet to be identified gunmen, saying they can only hide for a while but that they will be caught.
