The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bola Longe, has confirmed the kidnap of Bishop Joseph Masin, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN) in Nasarawa State.
Mason is also the Bishop of The Word of God Gospel Church in Lafia, the state capital.
The police boss said the abductors of the CAN chairman were at the residence of the victim at about 11 pm of Wednesday night armed with guns, and whisked him away to an unknown environment.
Longe added that the Police were on the trail of the kidnappers to ensure immediate release of the CAN Chairman unhurt.
Son of the abducted Bishop, Pastor Peace Masin, who spoke to ExpressDay on Thursday, said that the kidnappers were suspected fully armed Fulani men.
While narrating the incident, he said that the kidnappers arrived the house at a time occupants of the house had shut the doors for their night rest.
He recounted that the kidnappers were able to get into the house through a house mate who was still lying down outside of the house at that time.
According to him: “They beat and forced the young man to call any one inside the house, pretending he wanted to pick something.
“It was at that point that one of the girls in the house opened the door and two of the armed men got inside in search of my father, who they succeeded in taking him away.
“Meanwhile about seven of them had surrounded the house, and they were also well armed with guns.”
