Gunmen suspected to be assassins have invaded the ancestral home of the Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Youth Development, Olorogun Uteme Bateren in Oteri, Ughelli North Local Government Area of the State.

ExpressDay gathered that the gunmen carted away items worth millions of naira, including an elephant tusk which was inherited from the aide’s great grand father, gold jeweleries, artefacts, a DSTV explorer decoder and a 42-inch LG plasma TV.

Narrating his ordeal while conducting newsmen round the scene of crime, Bateren appealed to security agents to fish out the perpetrators to face the wrath of the law.

He said: “I was told by neighbors that they saw the suspects before destroying and carting away my father’s properties at about 1.30am on the 9th of June 2020.

“The tomb of my late father, the louvers and doors of the entire building were destroyed by the suspects and my joy is that as at the time they came, nobody was at home.

“I immediately went to the Ughelli Area command to incident the case and a team of mobile policemen were drafted to the scene to ascertain the level destruction.

“I am appealing to security agencies to unmasked the perpetrators and bring them to face the wrath of the law. It my accenstral home today and tomorrow we don’t know who be next”.

Efforts to speak with the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onowakpoyeya were not successful.

But a senior security officer attached to Ughelli Area Command who confirmed the incident said, “we are investigating the matter to ensure that those responsible are brought to book.”
