Suspected gunmen have abducted four road construction workers in Torugbene, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Public Relations officer of construction firm, Setraco, Mr. Afuruku Robert confirmed the abduction in a phone conversation with ExpressDay in Warri on Thursday morning.
According to him, “yesterday afternoon the hoodlums attacked the site in Torugbene community around 1:35pm and four workers were abducted at gun point after sporadic shooting into the air and drove away in a speedboat to unknown destination”.
He stated that the insecurity in the Delta Ijaw waterways was on the increase as kidnapping has been on daily basis.
He noted that last week, the medical director of Torugbene general hospital was abducted and released after undisclosed payment of ransom.
Effort to speak with the Delta State Police Commissioner, Mr. Hafiz Inuwa, on the abduction was unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
