A group under the auspices of Association Commercial Car Owners (ACCO) yesterday, in Asaba, condemned the use of Delta State Government vehicle number plates by a private commercial transport company, Delta Appreciate Transport Company.
The group had also blamed the Delta State government for allowing a private transport company to use government number plates in their buses, saying that this could end the operation of state-owned Delta Line Transport Company.
The group in a statement signed by the Delta State Chairman, Comrade Nelson Akponureh, and Secretary, Elder Chinozie Akanze, said the Delta Appreciate Transport Company had also moved from its original approved location opposite Uduaghan park along Patani road, Ughelli, to beside Otovwodo motor park.
The statement further called on the state government and every other individual or group behind the company to ask them to relocate back to its original place and stop using government number plates to avoid breakdown of law and order.
It recalled that the Delta State House of Assembly had in the past enacted a law stopping any private institution or companies naming their business with Delta, pointing out that it was for that reason Delta Glass change to Beta Glass, saying that Delta Appreciate Transport is not different.
The statement said the group was bringing this to the knowledge of the Delta state government so as to address the issue before it gets out of hand, saying that the relocating back to its original approved place and the government number plates are the two crucial issues to be look into.
